Sep 24: Apple veröffentlicht Apple TV Software 5.1
Seit wenigen Minuten steht das eigentlich schon für vergangene Woche erwartete Update der Apple TV Software auf Version 5.1 (Buildnummer 10A406e) zum Download bereit. Unterstützt werden die 2. und 3. Generation der Set-Top Box, also die kleine, schwarze Version. Auf Apps für das Apple TV muss man auch mit diesem Update nach wie vor verzichten. Als größte Neuerungen bringt die neue Version die Unterstützung der mit iOS 6 eingeführten Shared Photo Streams, die Option, Audio-Inhalte vom Apple TV auf AirPlay-Lautsprecher zu schicken und die Möglichkeit, zwischen verschiedenen iTunes Accounts zu wechseln mit. Zudem wird nun auch offiziell das bereits in den Betaversionen entdeckte Umsortieren der Icons unterstützt. Inzwischen wurden auch die Apple TV Seiten überarbeitet und listen nun alle neuen Funktion auf. Im Einzelnen sind dies:
Shared Photo Streams - Accept invitations for Shared Photo Streams, browse photos and comments, and receive notifications of new content.
AirPlay - Send audio content from Apple TV to
AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and
other Apple TVs). Also includes the ability to require an onscreen code
to use AirPlay with your Apple TV.
iTunes account switching - Save multiple iTunes accounts and switch quickly between them.
Trailers - Search movie trailers. In the United States, see show times for local theaters.
Screen savers - New Cascade, Shrinking Tiles, and Sliding Panels screen savers.
Main menu - Reorder icons on the second page by holding down the select button on the remote.
Subtitles - SDH support for the deaf and hard-of-hearing as well as improvements to viewing and selecting subtitles.
Network configuration - Support for setting up advanced
network options using configuration profiles. See
